Speak out!” is a Youth Exchange project, Action 1.1 – Youth in Action – multilateral project, focused
on the better understanding and the subsidiary development of the New European Youth Policy among European
youngsters, and as well on the meaning of the European Citizenship. The project concentrates on promoting
young people’s active citizenship in general and their European citizenship in particular, fostering mutual
understanding between young people in different countries and Promoting European cooperation in the youth
field.
The leaders of our NGO had been involved in consultation processes and they had also been promoting
the new policy at the local level. Because the youngsters had been highly interested into the topic, the host
organization’s team, together with its working partners came to the idea that the youngsters should be provided
with the opportunity to SPEAK OUT! And to express their perspective on the New European Youth Policy.
The exchange will take place in Craiova, Romania, between 15 and 22 December 2009. A group of 40
participants, coming from 8 countries – Germany, Malta, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Italy and Turkey ,
will work together to achieve a better understanding of the New European Youth Policy. The objectives of the
project are:
• to reinforce participants’ intercultural dialogue and intercultural learning skills and abilities;
• to create a platform for debate and dialogue on the new European youth policy;
• to create networking opportunities for the promoters involved in the project;
• to come with a final declaration – The Youngsters Speak Out!, expressing the participants’
view on the - Youth - Investing and Empowering – the new strategy of the European
Commission on youth. These objectives are vital for the future of the youth working not only
in the participating organizations and their networks, but also throughout Europe.
The methodology will be based on intercultural learning, learning by doing and participation approach.
The working sessions will be based on group working, simulation games and role playing games. Also, the
participants will have the opportunity to interact with the local community, through the sessions that would be
developed with the students’ associations and the local authorities.
Moreover, as the project will be implemented in December, just a couple of days before Christmas, our volunteers
will prepare special sessions for the participants, where they will get acquainted with the Romanian traditional customs and
traditions for the Christmas celebration.
